Linwood no more no more
Over the past 30 years Linwood has not had its problems to seek. Beginning with the closure of the Rootes car plant, the area’s steady decline has continued to this day – a low point being the local shopping centre’s Carbuncle of the Year Award. Despite it all, a doughty group of local people refused to give up the fight for a better future. With ambitious plans to take control of their community’s regeneration, Linwood Community Development Trust are now one of 24 communities to receive investment through DTAS’ Strengthening Communities programme.
Scottish Government has provided the funding for Development Trust Association Scotland’s Strengthening Communities Programme. The investment covers the salary costs of a key member of staff within each community anchor organisation for two years along with a contribution to the associated running costs.
