Our briefing tries to reflect some of the commitment and passion that local people feel for their communities and the incredible range of what goes on, day in day out across Scotland. Scottish Community Alliance member, EVH, is sponsoring the Community Project of The Year award at this year’s Herald Society Awards. No cash prizes but loads of kudos and a handsome trophy on offer

Community Project of the Year

This award will reward projects which put control in the hands of their communities and enable ordinary people to take the lead in changing their local circumstances.

Awards eligibility
To be eligible, all entries must be accompanied by a completed entry form.
• The awards are open to private, voluntary/charitable organisations and community bodies as well as public sector organisations.
• Anyone can nominate a team/public servant or you can nominate yourself.
• All work entered into the categories must have taken place in Scotland.
• Projects can be any size, but must demonstrate success in terms of end results.
• The project or initiative must have been active between July 1, 2010 – June 30, 2011.
• The closing date for entries is Friday, September 16, 2011.

Guidelines for completing your entry
• It is important that your entry is clear, concise and shows how you meet the category criteria as this is the basis on which you will be judged.
• Entries should be a maximum of two sides of A4 paper. They should be clearly presented using Arial font, point size 12.
• Entrants may mark certain parts of their entry ‘not for publication’ (such as exact budget figures etc), provided such restrictions are not used unreasonably.

All submissions must include the following:
• Name of the project, individual or team, including job titles, where appropriate.
