Who has responsibility?

No surprise that the proposed Community Empowerment Bill was missing from the Government’s legislative programme for the year ahead.  This one will have a long lead-in period – probably sensible given the scope for disagreement about what community empowerment actually means. One anomaly that needs resolving sooner rather than later is that responsibility for our sector sits in a different part of government from the rest of the third sector. It doesn’t make sense. To see which part of government has responsibility for who and what (but not why)

Responsibility for the community sector and for the Community Empowerment and Renewal Bill lies with the Regeneration and Commonwealth Games Division (part of Housing, Regeneration, Culture and the Commonwealth Games Directorate). To see who is responsible for which areas of policy – click here

Responsibility for all other parts of the third sector lies with the Third Sector Division (part of Local Government and the Third Sector Directorate). To see who is responsible for which areas of policy – click here
